Parking Update11 September 2020 (by Hannah Forder-Ball (Hannah)) |
Please read changes due to new government guidance
Government guidance on returning to school encouraged parents who live less than two miles away to walk, cycle or scoot to school. This is to try to reduce traffic on the roads and to improve the health of families by increasing their daily exercise.
Parents wishing to drive their child into school will still be able to do so but we ask that you park off site using on road parking or in the Florence Park Car park. If you or your child has a health condition that means this is not possible please can you email us to let us know so that we can arrange a suitable drop off/ pick up point. Parents with children under two dropping to the POD should speak to their key person to discuss options.
There will be no other parking available on site.
After listening to the views of parents since our return and because we understand that people need to get away to work we are going to trial a ‘Kiss and Drop bay’ on the school site from Monday 21st of September for Yr 5 and 6. If this is successful we will extend to other year groups.
This facility enables Parents and Carers to drop off their children safely via vehicles.
You will need to drive into the parent drop zone, keeping your car running with the hand brake on. Your Child/ren will then exit the car on the playground side and be safely crossed across the car park by a member of staff. This facility will run from 8.10-8.30am and from 2.45-3.05pm (2.30pm- 2.45pm on a Wednesday).
If you wish to be part of this trial please email c.smy@dbmac.org.uk by 16th September 2020.
Due to the alterations in the government guidance from 14th September can we please ask that parents leave via the Shelley Rd exit so that you don’t meet the Secondary flow of pupils.
