    Arctic Class - Science

    Artbots

Arctic class have been busy exploring electrical components and circuits in science over the last few weeks. We have tested different electrical components to observe what happens when they are part of a complete circuit, including bulbs and buzzers.

We have also been exploring the use of switches and pressure buttons, discussing the various reasons they might be used. We decided pressure buttons could be used to control buzzers in some electrical devices, making Robot like sounds. Also switches could help save energy by turning devices on and off when not in use.

Before we created our Artbots we reviewed the symbols used to represent each electrical component within the circuit we would be building. We then put the symbols in order before drawing and labeling our final circuit.

This week we made our Artbots, which although at times challenging to ensure the circuit remained complete, we had lots of fun. We were able to test the Artbots and watch as they each created colourful patterns whilst moving across the table.

Tomorrow we will be writing instructions for how to create an Artbot, reflecting on any additional tips we might want to give the reader for those tricky steps.
