    Oceans are habitat custodians!

20 May 2022 (by Menna (Menna))

Who looks after our land? We do! We are it's custodians! This week in Oceans, we have been investigating our local environments and thinking about the habitats around our school. We have examined soil - what is it? Why is it so vital to our world? We have been thinking about what happens to our rubbish and have begun an experiment to see what will happen to a crips packet, banana skin and tissue when left underground for a few weeks. We discussed about whether or not the materials are alive, were alive or have never been alive and what they are made from. The children have predicted what they think will happen to the rubbish over the coming weeks. At home, why not discuss what happens to our food waste, recycling and rubbish - where does it go? We'll be finding out the results of our experiment after the May half term and reviewing our predictions - we were correct? Have we grown a banana tree or more crisps? Or maybe the plastic will still be there...

Next week we'll be spending the week thinking about the big question " Did Jesus really do miracles?" and exploring the meaning of miracles to people of faith and thinking about our own beliefs and views. At home, please talk about what a miracle is and how the miracles of Jesus inspire his followers to this day ready for next week.
