Oceans Reflect and Review13 January 2023 (by Menna (Menna)) |
Oceans Rock! This week in Oceans, we've bene learning about rocks and how they are formed.
Throughout the phase, children have been busy investigating the different types of rock (can your child remember them all?) and how they arer formed. The children have made their own sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and have worked hard to describe them in different ways using a range of adjectives. Next week we'll be recording the results of our experiments and presenting them as scientists. We'll finish the week by creating our own model rock cycle - the choc rock cycle! Please send any donations of chocolate in and we'll use it in our investigation.
In our core curriculum, we'll be continuing to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, writing in the style of Roald Dahl and using the book in our comprehension tasks. In Maths, we'll continue to learn about different methods of multiplication and use these to practise out times tables facts in fluency.
Home learning and topic webs have gone home with the children today and are on the school website. The children have designed their home learning grid this week, remember - don't forget to bring it in on Wednesday to share it with your class. Golden housepoints for the most creative and most improved!
Have a restful weekend,
The Oceans Team.
