Explorers weekly reflect and review3 March 2023 (by Beth Taylor (Beth)) |
This week Explorers have began reading Running Wild in English, worked hard on perimeter, area and volume in maths, and have been working on turning drawings into 2D sculptures.
Another great week for explorers! We have all begun to read Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo. We have been able to connect the events in the story to those we have learnt about through our visitors and our studies on tsunamis, as the story is set around the Boxing Day tsunami in South Asia, and have been using this to support the details added to our own sentence stacking. In Maths, we have developed our understanding of area and volume, focusing on a range of different shapes. Our art projects are developing well, having drawn our own animals and used the grid method to enlarge the silhouette. We also had local PCSO’s come in a give a talk on County Lines and knife crime on Thursday, which was a real eye opener for many.
Next week:
Next week we will be completing our art project, and collating the final data for our science investigation. We will also begin to move onto looking at humans in science, looking at the circulatory system, how nutrients are absorbed and how we change as we get older. This will continue over the next two weeks.
In English, we will be continuing to explore the story of Running Wild whilst sentence stacking and, in Maths, we will be moving onto Ratio and consolidating different areas.
For PSHE we are creating fundraising plans for Comic Relief - all coming together on March 17th - watch this space for more details.
