    Ocean's weekly reflect and review

17 March 2023 (by Menna (Menna))

    A creative week in Oceans!

This week we have delved deeper into the life of Queen Elizabeth I, thinknig about portraiture, the importance of how she was represented to her subjects and how she dealt with uprisings and challenges to her reign. Indian class had a visit from Queen Elizabeth on Thursday and practised their portrait skills by recreating her in watercolours.

We finished writing our poems on a weather feature, exploring the use of metaphor and how the weather e.g. snow can be an artist, a blanket and a friend. Next week we'll be interleaving as we learn about Sir Francis Drake, thinking about his career as we storytell his life. In Maths we've come to an end of our work on fractions and will be exploring mass and capacity next week. We'll continue with our watery theme as we think about states of matter, how solids turn into liquids and gasses, beginning by thinking about water and how it can turn into ice and steam.

We have had some incredible homelearning in so far this term, thank you for helping your child to complete their home learning each week - the children love to share what they have been doing and celebrating their learning.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend,

    The Oceans Team.
