What a fun week for Explorers! Each class had a full day using Lego SPIKE. We learnt how to code using block coding to control elements attached to the Lego SPIKE hub. This included a colour sensor, motion sensor, motors, gyro sensor and a pressure sensor, along with changing the display on the hub. We finalised each day with a hopper race - building and coding our own hoppers to see which could move the quickest whilst also stopping at the finish line.

We have also completed a lot of work on online safety, including learning about what is appropriate to share online and who with, how once you have shared something online you can never be sure it is fully removed, how to watch out for false truths and to always be kind online. We really enjoyed playing the google Interland games as part of our learning, and their website has some great resources for families to support staying safe online too: https://beinternetawesome.withgoogle.com/en_us/ 

Next week: 

Next week is our RE focus week. We will be looking at the big question: was the death of Jesus a worthwhile sacrifice? We will be looking at the meaning of sacrifice, the Jewish festival of Passover, the day of Attonement and how this links for Christians to Jesus’ death. 

We will also look at C S Lewis’ representation of sacrifice in The Lion, The Witch and The wardrobe, writing a letter to Aslan from the point of view of Lucy during the our English lessons.
