Ocean's Weekly Reflect and Review28 April 2023 (by Menna (Menna)) |
A creative week in Oceans!
This week in Oceans we have been busy continuing our creative writing for our disaster narrative, there is a happy ending in sight when we continue next week! In maths we've been busy revisiting our multiplication and division by 10, reviewing fractions and working on our gaps - look out for Big Maths homework this week. Please support your child to complete their challeneges and talk with them about how they have solved the questions.
In Topic, we've been finishing off our work on the Georgians and have looked at chair designs. The children have designed, made and evaluated their own chairs using cardboard and putting their joining skills to the test as they had to make a chair that would withstand their own weight. You may have been a lucky recipient of a chair at the end of the day today - we hope you like it! We finished off our week with a fantastic Eid Party to celebrate Eid, thank you to everyone who sent in food donations, we had so much food, we've had to save some until our next party!
Next week we'll be thinking about what trade is and how trade has evolved since the Stone Age to the 1700s to modern day and how trade has evolved into a global system. Thank you to everyone who has sent in their trip letters/paid online, we can't wait to visit the Cutty Sark on Tuesday 16th May for our school trip and see how tea was traded during the Victorian Age.
We hope you have a wonderful long weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 3rd May as Year 1-4 will be closed due to stike action on Tuesday.
Best wishes,
The Oceans Team.
