Coral Reef Weekly Reflect and Review

16 June 2023 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT))

It’s been bugs galore this week! The highlight was creating bug hotels during our topic session and learning about why these are important habitats for the insects that live in our gardens.

The children learnt what a habitat is, I wonder if your child can remember? They looked it different types of habitats for different animals. The children worked in pairs using a range of natural materials to create their bug hotels in recycled milk bottles and the results were fantastic! We have added them to the nature part of our garden and to our forest school area, hopefully lots of insects will come to visit us!
In drawing club the children were looking at the classic story ‘The Giant Jam Sandwich’ and the children had a go at making their own jam sandwiches by following the instructions, afterwards the children wrote their own list of instructions or ordered the instructional pictures.
Our Poem this week was ‘Sliced Bread’ ask your child to retell the poem at home!
Next week we will be focusing on the stories ‘Doug The Bug’ and ‘Jack and the Jellybean’
In PE on Monday we will be continuing our dance focus by moving like Dragonflies!
We will be going bug hunting in our garden and looking closely at the bugs we find with magnifying glasses.
we will be looking at Insect skeletons on our light box and creating mini beast artwork.
what a lot to look forward to!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sun
