St Fred's High Reflect and Review30 June 2023 (by Beth Taylor (Beth)) |
Do you know what a Money Mule is?
We have had another great week in St Fred's High.
We have begun our maths project using White Rose Tours - handling data to work out the best place to go on holiday is and when. We have looked at a range of graph types and created our own climate graphs to support our destination choices. In English, we have had more great sentence stacking, building our skills and plot points to be able to write our own versions next week. Our exploration of Mount Everest, in Humanities, has led us to deepen our knowledge about the dangers that climbing the mountain pose and how these can be overcome.
We also had a full morning looking at Money Mules, in association with UK Finance and Cifas, using their Don't be fooled lessons. We discussed what a money mule is, and how this is linked to fraud and money laundering. Following the story of Stirling, we explored what this might look like and what we can do if we ever receive a message asking about making quick and easy money. Our photo this week shows a freezeframe of our reaction if we has received the messages sent in the story. Take a look at moneymules.co.uk to find out more.
Next week:
Next week we will be using measures in Maths, looking at distances and time zones, as we continue with our tours project. We will be planning, writing and editing our own version of The Explorer in English. In Humanities we will be looking at the lives of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary.
Reminders:
Thank you to all who have returned the permissions and payments for Paulton's Park on the 18th July. We have sent reminders to those who we have not yet received these from. The letter was emailed out, as well as a paper copy handed out, in May. If you need this to be resent to you please email explorers@stfrideswides.co.uk
