Oceans Weekly Reflect and Review6 July 2023 (by Menna (Menna)) |
This week in Ocean's we've been busy learning and practicing sea shanties, finding out who David Livingstone was and have begun to plan our biographies!
In between singing practices and topic lessons we've finished off writing our class biographies about David Attenborough and have moved onto planning our own. Miraculous Maradona, Terrific Tut, Murderous Mary and Exquisite Elizabeth 2 are but to name a few! The children will finish researching on Monday before independently writnig biographies about the famous person of their choice next week.
In Maths we've been exploring shapes and angles - obtuse, acute, right and reflex angles have all made an appearance. We've been using positional language to describe amounts of turn using clockwise, anticlockwise, perpendicular and parallel. We'll continue next week as we compare and order angles and explore measuring them in more detail.
In topic we've been exploring the adventures of Dr David Livingstone and how the country of Kenya has changed over the past century. Next week we'll be learning about forces, thinking about gravity, air and water resistance and working scientifically to carry out our own investigations.
Reminders:
Tomorrow (Friday), school will be closed for Years 3, 4 and 5 Ocean classes for strike action. If your child has finished their reading book, please login to Oxford reading buddy (school code li5ew) to read a book online.
Monday - PE - house points will be given for children in the correct PE clothes - school PE top (maroon with logo) and charcoal grey shorts/trousers with black trainers.
Thursday - Sea shanty performance at 2:15 - we will confirm the location closer to the time due to the weather!
These are the 3 shanties we have been practising in class - please encourage your child to practice them tomorrow and over the weekend!
