    Weekly Reflect and Review

15 September 2023 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT))

It has been another busy week in Reception. We started our daily phonics lessons and the children have been keen to learn a new sound each day and have worked hard to form the letters correctly. Thank you for helping your child to practise at home too!

During our key group times we have been thinking our 6 Golden Rules and we have been looking at the Colour Monster Story which has helped us to think about our feelings and emotions. We will continue to learn about our feelings next week.
We have enjoyed exploring clay this week on our art table; moulding it and making prints in it. We have been making models out of Mobilo and learning how to follow the instructions to make the models on some picture cards.
We have had lots of fun exploring the water beads in the water tray and thinking about full and empty in different sized containers.
As the weather has been warm and sunny we have enjoyed spending time in our garden, the mud kitchen has been very popular this week-Strawberry soup anyone!?
Next week we will be thinking about traditional stories starting with story Goldilocks And The Three Bears. We will be introducing our Drawing Club sessions where the children will get to think about story settings and characters and reimagine stories.
We will be starting our maths sessions and using our noticing skills, thinking about what we can see and how we see it!

We love to make things out of boxes, tubes and pots. If you have any recycling at home such as milk bottle lids, yogurt pots, cereal boxes and kitchen/toilet roll tubes we would love to have them!

Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday
