    Ocean's Weekly Reflect and Review

15 September 2023 (by Menna (Menna))

We have been timetravellers this week, travelling from the Paelaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, all the way to the Roman Age.

The children had a fantastic time at the Ashmolean Museum on Thursday and Friday and all behaved impecably. They had great fun dressing up as Ancient Britains and hunting for artefacts! A big thank you to our parent volunteers, we really appreciate your help and were glad you could join us! We finished our topic off this week with recreating the Neolithic clay pots we saw in the museum, taking inspiration from the markings etched on them as we created our own.

In English we've continued with our sentence stacking about Skara Brae and in Maths, we've been exploring place value with hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands.

Maths homelearning books have gone home today - we've been busy completing the week one work during our fluency sessions and have been talkinig about the importance of doing little and often - please support your child to complete the week two work over the next 5 days, ready to bring in their book on Wednesday.

Next week, we'll be travelling further in time as we explore Bronze and Iron Age Britain and think about how life changed in Britain after the discovery of metal. In English and Maths we'll continue with our sentence stacking, thinking carefully about our word choices whilst in Maths we'll be exploring numberlines.

As always, please email in to oceans@stfrideswides.co.uk if you have any questions or catch us at the end of the day.

    Have a lovely weekend,

    The Oceans Team.
