    Islands Weekly Reflect and Review

22 September 2023 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren))

Islands explored making their own cave art just like ‘cave baby’.

This week Islands have finished their adventures in the Ice Age ready to explore the Stone Age next week. This week we learnt how people kept warm and what kind of things they used in their caves and tents.

Learning this week has sparked lots of curiosity and caused the children to ask lots of questions. They have made links to where our food comes from and thought about how we would feel if we had to go out and catch our own food as that was the only way to survive… some children thought that they may have been very hungry if they lived in the Ice Age.

The children are really excited about their pre historic workshop with Jonathon on Monday. They will explore a huge range of historical pieces all whilst listening to stories and stepping back in time. We will then spend the week being historians, creating living timelines.

If possible, please email a picture of your child as a baby, toddler and more recent to the islands email so that we can begin to put together our own timelines in the next couple of weeks.

Homework across Islands this week was outstanding. Thank you for supporting your child in their learning journey, it really does make a difference!
