Explorers reflect and review13 October 2023 (by Beth Taylor (Beth)) |
Another great week of learning in Explorers!
This week we have been creating our own poetry, “It’s never just a war”, based on Joshua Seigal’s “It’s never just a book”. We have really enjoyed performing them today too.
As mathematicians we have been continuing to focus on multiples and factors.
As scientists we have learnt more about how scientists know about evolution and adaptation, particularly looking at fossils.
In circle time we have been focusing on not giving in to peer pressure, and not causing peer pressure in the first place.
Next week:
On Monday, we have our harvest service at the church. (Year 5 will be swimming as usual). We would welcome any donations of canned or dried food that we can pass on to those in need.
As writers, and historians, we will be recapping our learning on WWII, creating historical reports. We will also be developing our diary writing.
In RE will be looking at how the Qur’an is important to Muslims and how the teachings from here and the Hadith impact how Muslims live their lives.
Wednesday to Friday is the residential for some of year 5 and 6, but the rest of us have fun planned in too.
Homework:
Maths year 5: pages 20-22
Maths year 6: pages 20-22
Spellings: pages 12-13
Apologies for having to postpone the information meeting about SATs and year 5/6 expectations due to staff sickness.
This has been rescheduled for Tuesday 31st October, straight after school.
All children will be taken to the dock, unless after school club, where you will be able to come through and join us from 2:50 after collecting children from other year groups. This will last approximately half an hour. We look forward to seeing you.
