    Oceans Weekly Reflect and Review

20 October 2023 (by Menna (Menna))

    What a wonderful term!

We've had a jam packed term, filled with some incredible learning and progress! The children have explored life in Prehistorc Britain, from the Stone Age to the expansion of the Roman Empire into Britain. Over the term, we have found out all about the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae and have written our own holiday brochures about Oxford. In maths, we've explored place value and addition and subtraction and have been busy learning our times tables. We finished our term exploring the question 'Do murtis help Hindus understand God'. We created our own rice rangolis and have explored different symbols in Hiduism. To end our term, we shared off our brilliant school to OFSTED and the children shone their light!

Next term, we'll begin the term exploring the question 'Is light a good symbol for celebration' as we celebrate Diwali and explore the importance of light in other faiths. On Tuesday we'll have a Hindu dance workshop in school with Sujatha where we explore traditional Hindu stories through dance. In the coming weeks, we'll explore the science of light before continuing our study of British history as we look at the beautiful Lindesfarne Gospels and the Bayeux tapestry. We'll be visiting Hill End to find out more about Anglo Saxon and Viking life on Monday 27th November.

We hope you all have a wonderful half term,

    The Oceans Team.
