Coral Reef Reflect and Review10 November 2023 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT)) |
The children have had another busy week in the Coral Reef. This week we have been thinking about the story What's in the Witch's Kitchen'
The children drew some amazing witch characters and drew pictures of food they would like to eat from the witch's kitchen. As you can imagine some of it was pretty gruesome!
The children have also reflected on Remembrance and learnt about why people wear poppies at this time of the year. The children watched a beautiful animation called Poppies to help them understand and created their own poppy art work.
The children learnt a poem about a witch called 'Pointy Hat' I wonder if they can perform the poem to you at home?
In Maths we have been learning about numbers one, two three and have thought about one more and one less with amounts up to three and have begun to learn about how numbers are made up of other numbers.
Next week we will be thinking about Diwali. The children will be learning about some of the special rituals and how families celebrate Diwali. In our key Groups the children will be making Indian sweets called Barfi. If you celebrate Diwali with your family we would love you to share some photos with us. Please send to coralreef@stfrideswides.co.uk
As part of our Drawing Club sessions we will be looking at the story 'Binny's Diwali' as well as sharing other stories centred around Diwali.
We will be starting to learn songs for our Christmas Nativity Performance which will be taking place on Monday 11th at 1,30pm December at Somerville College.
In Maths we will be finding out about Circles and Triangles; looking for them in our environment and creating art with them.
Don't forget to help your child practise their reading on Oxford Owl.
Have a restful weekend
