Explorers reflect and review10 November 2023 (by Beth Taylor (Beth)) |
This week Explorers have been continuing to be scientists, focusing on predicting and planning. We have looked at reversible and irreversible reactions, being aware of which variables are dependent, independent and controlled.
As mathematicians, we have been working on multiplication and division, preparing to move on to fractions.
As writers, we have been continuing sentence stacking following Ross Welford’s 1000 year old boy.
In computing, Scott and Shackleton have been working on using Google Sheets, developing their use and understanding of equations and adding graphs. Cook will be completing this in the next few weeks.
As musicians, we have worked with Oxford Song to complete the melodies for our class songs. Now to practise performing them.
Next week
Next week is assessment week. For year 5 and 6 this is completed using past SATs papers. This will therefore take up most of our Maths and English sessions next week.
We will move on to being historians, focusing on the Anglo-Saxons, the era where the main the main character in the book ‘1000 year old boy’ is originally from.
In PE we will continue to work on our dance skills required for the upcoming inter schools competition.
On Tuesday we have our 100% attendance trip, for which children with 100% attendance have been selected to go to the cinema! The names have been randomly selected this evening, letters will be sent on Monday.
