Reflect and review17 November 2023 (by Sarah Colverson-Martin (Sarah)) |
Another busy week looking at Diwali, hedgehogs and other nocturnal animals.
The children have celebrated Diwali by making Diwali fireworks by wrapping pipe cleaners and rosemary around sticks, they made Diva lamps with paper plates which they then decorated. We talked about Diwali and the festival of light and listened and danced to some very special Diwali music. This helping to build on our listening skills and movement development.
Some of the children made bread that they shaped into hedgehogs. This extending their gross motor development as they kneaded, poked and mixed the dough, they also practiced their cutting skills as they used scissors to make the spines of the hedgehogs. All decided that it tasted delicious.
To continue with looking at nocturnal animals we read both factual and nonfiction books, looking at where the animals live, in the hollow of a tree, in a burrow under the ground or in a nest. We used the blocks, leaves, conkers and fir cones to make homes for the woodland animals.
To continue our topic of shine and sparkle we are off to outer space next week.
Have a fab weekend and see you all on Monday with your space boots ready for our Outer Space adventure.
