Coral Reef weekly Reflect and Review24 November 2023 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT)) |
It has been another busy week full of learning opportunities! The children have enjoyed painting and imaginative play.
As artists the children had lots of fun working collaboratively on some large scale painting on the floor and table using different sized paintbrushes and exploring printing techniques using white paint on black paper.
In Drawing Club the children thought about the story ‘Winnie the Witch’ and the children are making a lot of progress in the magic marks they make alongside their drawings, some attempting to write words and number sentences independently. We have been very impressed.
In phonics the children have begun to learn the Special Friend sounds, theses are sounds that contain two letters but make one sound. Please practise these at home as your child will need to be able to read and write them.
In Maths the children have learnt about triangles and squares and numbers and amounts up to 4.
We have continued to learn songs for our Christmas Nativity and the children are working so hard to remember all the lyrics and actions. Next week we will be sending home lines to learn, for those children with a speaking part.
Next week we will be thinking about the story ‘A Dark, Dark Tale’ and as scientists we will be making magic bubbling potions.
Tomorrow is our open day 9-11am, it’s a great opportunity for the children to show you their learning spaces and you get to look around other classrooms too! We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
