Ocean’s Weekly Reflect and Review12 January 2024 (by Menna (Menna)) |
A wonderful start to the term, full of questioning and wondering.
This week in Oceans we’ve been thinking about the question ‘could Jesus heal people?’. We’ve been learning about the miracles Jesus performed and whether or not Jesus could heal people or if there is another explanation. We have created a piece of art that shows what modern day miracle we would like to happen. We’ve had world peace, end of wars, the end of poverty and homelessness and the end of climate change. What would you want to happen? In Maths, we’ve been continuing our multiplication and division journey, learning how to do short multiplication. We’ve started learning the names of different vegetables in Español, our favourite word is ‘las patatas’ (potatoes).
During golden time, we spoke with the children about the importance of completing their Sumdog –30 minutes by Wednesday = 50 coins, 60 minutes = 100 coins and all children must have 60 minutes of Sumdog, their maths workbooks (going out today) and their reading by Friday morning to get the full golden time allowance. Please support your child to complete their home learning to ensure they can achieve their very best.
Next week, we will be starting our new English unit of The Iron Man (by Ted Hughes). We’ll be practising division in Maths and in topic we’ll be learning about the great British Designer William Morris (not the car maker). On Thursday we’ll be having a workshop all about William Morris and have a go at making our own block printing. Please pay for the workshop (with the London Zoo trip) on Pupil Asset.
It was lovely to speak with so many of you during parent’s evening. We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
The Ocean’s Team.
