Anemones Weekly Reflect and Review23 February 2024 (by Lisa Brown (LisaB)) |
The children started our new topic with learning about and creating the life cycle of a butterfly. They also made the most beautiful butterfly paintings as we talked about the patterns of different bugs.
In phonics we are beginning to think about rhyming words and have shared books that support the children to understand rhyme. We have also continued with the adventures of ‘Tizzy’ the tiger in our guided reading sessions.
In maths we have focused on size using the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears. We worked on the concept of ‘all gone’ and thought about the patterns we notice in the story.
This week we also began our meditation sessions using the ‘Big 3 and me’ programme. This supports the children to think about and gain a deeper understanding of feelings and begin to develop a wider emotional literacy vocabulary. The children were all calm and focused throughout the sessions as they listened to the story of one of the 3 characters; Paxton, the peaceful panda, Tao, the truthful turtle and Cali, the caring puppy.
We also had a special treat this week with a visit from the Oxford Music School. The children had a wonderful day, exploring and discovering new ways to use music, developing their listening skills and helping them to understand new musical concepts. It was great fun!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you all on Monday morning. Please remember that our learning begins at 8:10. It is really important that the children arrive in time to begin their school day so they can experience all aspects of the learning day. Thank you.
