Explorers reflect and review8 March 2024 (by Beth Taylor (Beth)) |
This week, as writers, we have continued our work on Cosmic, exploring sentence stacking while developing our use of punctuation, such colons and semi-colons.
As mathematicians, we have continued to work on decimals, focusing how to use decimals when multiplying and dividing.
In science we have explored light and sound, completing a range of investigations into how light travels and which material is best to protect our ears from loud sounds.
World book day was a huge success, with great sharing of books, especially with the younger years and the creation of fantastic book doors made by each class. We look forward to hearing which door has won the competition (voted for by the curriculum ambassadors) next week.
Next week we will be focusing on being artists. We will be looking at activist art, looking at how this was powerfully used in the 60’s, linking in to public thoughts about the space race, along with other themes. We will be developing collage techniques, taking preprinted images and lettering and putting them together in our own designs. In order to have a wide range of choice, if you have any old magazines, flyers or newspapers that we could use we would be very grateful for them to be brought in by Tuesday.
Homework:
A reminder that all homework is due in by Wednesday. We also ask that the 10-minute test books are in every day as we are completing these in school too. We have shared with the children how to mark the tests and look at how they can improve their scores, which may be revising a specific subject area or developing how they answer a particular question type.
