    Oceans Weekly Reflect and Review

3 May 2024 (by Andy Gilbert (Andy))

Summer Week 3 Home learning this week: Indian - Big Maths Beat That Pacific and Arctic - White Rose workbook / printed sheet (for those without their books)

Where did the sun go? What a wet week.

This week Oceans have been exploring different environments and looking at how animals and plants have adapted to survive (and thrive) in very different habitats. Alongside this we’ve investigated how living things can be grouped and classified, how environments change through both natural processes and human activity and set up an experiment for next week to see if we can simulate how waste food sent to landfill emits potent greenhouse gases into our atmosphere.

To support our science work we’ve also been learning about habitats in our Spanish lessons. Starting with the essential elements that all plants and animals need to survive, we’ve initially looked at cognates (words that are similar in Spanish and English) before using supported listening and reading activities to consolidate our new learning and improve our spoken and written Spanish.

    Home learning this week:

Indian - Big Maths Beat That

Pacific and Arctic - White Rose workbook / printed sheet (for those without their books)

Please check that your child’s White Rose workbook, as well as their reading record, are in school every day. If your child is unsure about any of the home learning please ensure they speak with us before the deadline.

Earlier this week all children should have brought home a note on our to London Zoo later this month (22 May). If your child requires a school packed lunch for the trip please return the slip as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the trip please ask.

Next week, we’ll continue to look into habitats and adaptations, work more with money to embed our learning of decimals and press on with our newspaper reports. School is closed on Monday, we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday - don’t forget PE kits!
