Oceans weekly reflect and review10 May 2024 (by Andy Gilbert (Andy)) |
Summer week 4 For maths home learning this week, everyone has work in their White Rose workbooks.
In Oceans this week we have continued to look at money: as well as adding and subtracting amounts we have been underestimating and overestimating and linking this activity to rounding to help us in real life scenarios such as buying food in the supermarket.
For maths home learning this week, everyone has work in their White Rose workbooks.
In English we have continued to work on our newspaper reports creating eye witness accounts and exploring the impact of emotive language on the reader. We’ve begun to bring this work together, so that next week we can finalise our stories and finish this unit of work.
Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic lessons this week have moved on from friendships to understanding the basic facts about puberty and menstruation. Our conversations have focused on the natural process of growing and maturing from a child to an adult. We’ve looked at varied and different words for parts of the body - common, slang and scientific - and corrected more than a few misconceptions along the way!
Our recent lessons on habitats and changing environments have provided us with a springboard into our next unit. Ahead of our visit to London Zoo on 22 May, we’ll be considering our responsibilities to preserve and protect endangered animals and planning our own animal parks.
As the weather improves please remember that your child needs to have a sun hat and sun cream applied before school, if you provide a bottle in their bag they can reapply.
