Have you tried the ball socket approach?
Congratulations to all of our year 6 children who have completed their SATs. They have shown amazing perseverance and resilience skills throughout the week. We are very proud of each and everyone of you!
During topic, year 6 children have been exploring the Art of Anatomy. We compared the work of two noble artists, Myron and Phidias and looked at the sculptures they created and the materials they used such as bronze, gold and ivory. We looked at the three different time periods; Archaic, Classical and the Hellenistic Period in which sculpturing was the most important form of art. Be sure to ask your child what the differences were between time periods. We then ended the week by using the ball socket approach to sketch our very own figure by focusing on proportion and poise.
Year 5 have been working on translation on co-ordinates. They even went outside and moved along the co-ordinates they drew.
In English Year 5, have been working hard on planning and writing our own detailed timeline on the Ancient Greeks, including information such as: the very first Olympics; the building of the parthenon in the centre of Athens; Greek democracy; and all about Alexander the Great.
Next week:
We will be moving on to RE and answering the question of the week: What is the best way for a Christian to show commitment to God?
In Maths Year 6 will be consolidating all their learning in addition to gap filling whilst Darwin will be focusing on reflection and symmetry, particularly looking at shapes reflecting in the y or x axis.
