Explorers Reflect and Review.24 May 2024 (by Sereeta Raj-Singh (Sereeta)) |
What is the best way for a Christain to show commitment to God?
During RE this week we have been looking and discussing the beliefs and practices within the christian community. We have identified how to show commitment to God within the Christian community. We looked at a number of different practices such as; Confirmation, Baptism , Rite of passage and Holy Communion. The children look at the 10 commandments and ordered them according to what they felt was the most and least important. Be sure to ask your child what they thought was the most and least important way of showing commitment to God.
During Maths, year 6 have continued to consolidate all our previous learning.
In year 5, we have been working hard in Comprehension using Reading Plus. Thank you to all children who are using this at home, as it is part of their homework, with a particular well done to our top 5 this week, who have each earned an additional 10 house points:
- Eze
- Seerat
- Umayyah
- Ibrahim
- Samavia
In Maths, year 5 have focused on reflection and symmetry this week. We focused on shapes and why they have the lines of symmetry that they do and why others are not, and how to correctly reflect more obscure shapes.
After half term:
All the year 6 children will be moving into St Fred's High. A letter has gone home today to explain what this will look like alongside the children's timetable. The children will be responsible for knowing what lessons and equipment is required for their day, as stated on their timetable.
Year 5 will be focusing on decimals in maths, working on using them accurately in a range of contexts.
In English we will be looking at a selection of short stories about a range of explorers, before focusing on Shackleton - the captain of the Endurance. We will also be looking at his explorations in history and geography.
