Oceans Reflect and Review21 June 2024 (by Andy Gilbert (Andy)) |
The sun has been shining this week. Please remember that your child needs to have a sun hat and sun cream applied before school, if you provide a bottle in their bag they can reapply.
This week started with Eid ul-Adha, the Muslim festival of sacrifice that remembers the prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son when God ordered him to. Eid Mubarak, to everyone who celebrated Eid al-Adha.
In maths this week the children have continued to explore shape and geometry, including parallel and perpendicular lines, symmetry and 2d shapes: triangles, polygons and quadrilaterals. Home learning this week:
Indian: WhiteRose Maths, Statistics
Pacific: WhiteRose Maths, Shape (p114).
Arctic: Sumdog challenge on shape
In geography this week we’ve been looking at Europe. The children have been locating countries within Europe and identifying how physical and human characteristics alter across the continent. In PE this week (taking advantage of the sun) we’ve been concentrating on throwing, catching and striking a ball with control (cricket) and competing in athletics activities.
Next week we’ll be continuing our English work on the picture book, Journey, and in geography taking a closer look at Italy.
Year 4: please return permission slips for swimming in transition week, Monday 15th July, and next year. Thank you.
Enjoy the weekend
