Explorers Weekly Reflect and Review6 September 2024 (by Andy Gilbert (Andy)) |
A GREAT start to the year!
What an AMAZING first week back in Explorers!
Ring of Fire: Disaster Zones or Beautiful Biomes is our topic for the year. We have started this with a bang by looking at the Hobbit and exploring the realm of Middle Earth. As writers and readers we have been looking at The Hobbit, understanding the beginning of the adventure to the point where the characters then find themselves standing in front of a mountain. Beagle have begun to work on Literacy and Language, developing the use of emotions in storytelling.
As Artists, Discovery and Endeavour have been looking at Typography. We have created upper and lower case letters including making the title for our new English wall.
As Geographers Beagle and Aegean have been looking the structure of the Erath and how volcanoes are formed.
As mathematicians we have been looking at Place Value up to 6 digit numbers, understanding each integer value (including roman numerals) and number line placements.
Next week
Year 5 are starting their swimming journey, with a small handful going sailing. Please make sure you child brings their swimming kit, towel, goggles and hat if they are going swimming.
Endeavour and Discovery will continue looking at Typography whilst Beagle continue to investigate and explore where you might find volcanoes around the world.
