    Coral Reef Reflect and Review

13 September 2024 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT))

The children have continued to settle this week and enjoying the different activities and learning opportunities.

It has been another busy week in The Coral Reef Class. In our Key groups, we have continued to learn the school Golden Rules and have begun thinking about different feelings and emotions and what these feelings and emotions might look and feel like in our body, our behaviour and facial expressions. We talked about what makes us feel happy, sad and angry.

We started our daily phonics sessions where the children have learnt the sounds m,a,s, d. Each day they learn a new sound and practise saying and writing it. Fred Frog has been there to help us say words in sounds (Fred Talk) too! We are really impressed with the children's participation and enthusiasm in the sessions and for practising at home. Thank you for supporting your child to practise the sounds in their green sound book at home.

In PE the children created big and small circle movements to music, first in the air with their arms and scarves, then on paper with crayons. This helps to support the children's fine and gross motor development ready for writing, it is also lots of fun!

The children enjoyed their forest school session in the sunshine, playing, exploring and learning the rules to stay safe.

The children became problem solvers when thinking about the story 'The Three Little Pigs' where they helped the Little pig's mum by drawing and building a strong house made of bricks for the two little pigs that didn't know how and there were lots of great ideas from the children.

We will change the children's storybooks in their bookbags each Monday- these storybooks are for you to read to your child at home.

    Have a great weekend
