    Autumn Week 6

Another very damp week! Please ensure that your child is suitably dressed: a warm (ideally waterproof) coat, hat and gloves. We also ask that all children have indoor shoes for use in school. These can be any type, slippers and crocs work really well as the children can easily slip them on and off.

This week we’ve been finishing off our writing project. Over the last few weeks we’ve practised different writing techniques during our sentence stacking: slowly building up our repertoire of writing options. This week we’ve planned our writing, concentrating on building the story and identifying where specific writing techniques (our writing lenses) can be best applied.

In science, we’ve been exploring living things. We discovered the seven life processes all living things share before looking at different types of living things: plants, amphibians and fish. This is a particularly hands-on module of work as it also includes elements of Design & Technology. The children have focused on cutting materials accurately and safely to create paper and card pop-ups that support their learning.

Next week, we’ll continue to look at living things and, in English, create calligrams: poems, phrases or just words which are written or arranged in a way that creates a visual image.

Parent Meetings. Following feedback from parents, you are able to have a face to face meeting with your child's class teacher or a phone call. There are a limited number of face to face slots available, so booking will be on a first come first serve basis. Please book an appointment with your class teacher using the MCAS app.
