    Explorers reflect and review

18 October 2024 (by Beth Taylor (Beth))

    Another great week of learning.

Thank you to those who met with us, or had a telephone conversation with us for parents evening this week.

    This week:

Endeavour and Discovery have been scientists, looking at evolution, adaptation and inheritance. We have also been looking the the book "The Moth" as writers and readers to support our understanding of why animals will adapt over time.

Beagle have been artists, looking at typography, creating fabulous word designs, using both pencil and collage. As writers, Beagle and Aegean have been working on the structure of non-fiction texts.

As mathematicians, we have been working on the four operations for calculation.

In PSHE, we have completed our first elements of the workshops on Speak out! Stay safe! with the NSPCC. Unfortunately the workshops with the NSPCC staff and volunteers have been postponed, and we will let you know when these have been rearranged.

    Next week:

We will theologians, focusing on the big question: what is the best way for a Muslim to show commitment to God? We will be looking at what commitment is, important elements of Islam, how Muslim's show commitment, and how we can show commitment in our own lives.

Year 6 will also be completing a full practise SATs, to support them in getting used to the process and timings.

Friday will be a non-school uniform day. This means that, for a small donation, the children can wear their choice of clothes for the day. The money raised will be going towards the exciting attendance rewards – such as Indian classes Pizza Party next week (they had the highest attendance for the week this week).  Please support your child to be in school wherever possible. The Explorers classes can’t wait for their turn on the Attendance Monopoly Board!

Home learning has been set by each teacher in class. Sumdog is also now back up and running. Please support your child to complete their maths (white rose book or sheet), an hour of sumdog per week and 20 minutes of reading each day (Endeavour and Discovery using reading plus). Thank you.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    The Explorers team
