Autumn week 7
It was lovely speak to many of you this week: face to face or via the phone.
This week in English we have had fun creating calligrams: poems, phrases or words which are written or arranged in a way that creates a visual image. We linked this activity to our exploration of living things in Science: creating interesting and varied expanded noun phrases about animals. In science we’ve continued to look at different types of living things: adding reptiles, birds and invertebrates to last week’s plants, amphibians and fish.
Oxford Song we’re back in on Monday. Together we completed the melodies for our class songs. The Oxford song team now take them away and will arrange our lyrics and tune into completed songs ready to be practised and performed.
Home learning:
Sumdog: Should now be working again. Please encourage you child to login and spend some time playing the maths and English games If you have any issues please contact us by emailing: Oceans@stfrideswides.co.uk
White Rose Maths Workbooks: The home learning we set follows the maths teaching we’ve been doing in class. It’s really important that children complete the work as it helps them to embed the learning that has taken place. Equally, it’s really important that children do not skip forward and complete future weeks, even if they feel as if they can do it.
Pacific: Yr3 & Yr 4 week 6
Indian: Yr3 & Yr 4 week 6
Arctic: Yr3 & Yr4 week 7
Next week is a RE week. We’ll be thinking about how making a regular commitment to something can increase its effectiveness and looking at the question: ‘does praying at regular intervals help Muslims in their everyday lives?’
Friday will be a non-school uniform day. This means that, for a small donation, the children can wear their choice of clothes for the day. The money raised will be going towards the exciting attendance rewards – such as Indian classes Pizza Party next week (they had the highest attendance for the week this week). Please support your child to be in school wherever possible.
