    Autumn week 9

Welcome back! Great to have the children in school.

While a shorter week we still managed to pack plenty in. Oxford Song were back helping us to rehearse our song - see below for details of the performance on 9th December - and, doubling down, on music and song we also had a musical theatre session.

Next week, we’ll start on our new English project - The Street Beneath our Feet. In this non-fiction writing unit we’ll be focusing on conveying factual information. In Maths we’ll be moving on from addition and subtraction to tackle multiplication and division and, over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking at famous buildings and exploring art through architecture.

Choir – this term we are running a temporary choir, as we have been asked to perform at a number of local events. Today, Beth T (Explorers) held a taster session and 51 children attended. There are 20 spaces. Each child was given a letter about the event on Thursday 5th December. These slips must be returned by Tuesday 12th November. We will confirm if your child has a place or not by Thursday 14th November.

Parking – Please do not park on school site, unless you are a blue badge holder or have a St Frideswide’s parking permit. If parking on the roads surrounding the school, please make sure that you are not blocking either of the school gates, as both are used for access. Thank you.

Children in Need – Friday 15th November: To support the charity day we will be doing Pennies for Pudsey. The children can wear Pudsey ears or other “Pudsey” accessories, bringing in pennies to donate to Children in Need.

Oxford Song – Monday 9th December. Oceans, together with children from North Hinksey Primary, will be performing at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford. The concert will take place in the afternoon, timings to be confirmed. The Sheldonian Theatre is a fantastic venue we hope as many of you as possible will be able to come and enjoy the song the children have created.
