Autumn week 9
This week ended with a session from health visitors on oral health. The children were knowledgeable about how to brush their teeth and how long to brush for, as well as the types of foods that are good and bad for their teeth.
In English this week we’ve been thinking about what’s happening in the ground under our feet. For our new, non fiction project - The Street Beneath our Feet - we’ve just begun to undertake a journey into the earth looking at man-made tunnels and pipes, creatures’ burrows, layers of rock and ultimately the planet’s molten core.
In Maths we’ve been building and using arrays to help write calculations and support the children to make the link between repeated addition and multiplication. We’ve also spent time this week highlighting the link between multiplication and division: by learning their times tables, children also know (with a little thought) the related division facts.

Next week is Road Safety Week. Every year, thousands of schools, organisations and communities get involved to share important road safety messages and understand the devastating effect of road crashes on everyone involved. The numbers are shocking: every year, more than 1700 people die on UK roads. Another 30,000 receive serious, life-changing injuries.
Don’t forget to take part in our fabulous competition to encourage children to Be Bright and Be Seen when they are out and about. Please ensure your children are wearing their brightest coats, hats, gloves and scarves next week.
