Anemones Weekly Reflect and Review

This week the nursery has been full of festive fun and exciting learning activities!

At the creative table, the children enjoyed wreath stamping, making Santa hats for Christmas lunch next week, and starting their Christmas cards. They loved getting into the holiday spirit and practising their fine motor skills with these crafty activities. We also created a large wreath to stick on our classroom door. The children worked together, using paint, glitter, pom poms and sparkles to add their own touches.

In maths, we’ve been having fun with patterns! On the carpet, we explored copying and creating patterns using claps and musical instruments. At the maths table, the children copied and created their own Christmas light patterns with different colours, reinforcing their understanding of patterns in a festive way.

At the letter formation table, we focused on the letters I, J, K, and L. The children practised writing these letters, working on their pencil grip and fine motor skills.

In the tuff tray, we explored how Bee Bots work. The children loved using these interactive robots to learn about how things work.

In the sand tray, we searched for hidden shapes like hexagons, squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles. This activity helped reinforce shape recognition and gave the children a fun way to develop their sensory and fine motor skills.

For phonics, our song of the week was "Tickle Tree." The children had a blast singing along and practising their listening skills.

On Thursday, we all wore our Christmas jumpers and had so much fun showing them off! Then on Friday, we watched the Coral Reef Nativity, which was absolutely amazing! The children were captivated by the performance. It was a perfect way to get into the festive spirit!
