    Anemones Weekly Reflect and Review

    Spring 1 Week 3

This week, we’ve been focusing on how to stay healthy and the importance of eating a balanced diet! Through lots of fun activities, the children have been learning about different foods and how to make healthy choices. We’ve been talking about how we should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and just a bit of things like ice cream, pizza, and crisps.

On the creative table, the children had fun painting snowflakes on foil using cotton buds. It was an interesting experience for the children to paint on foil! We also created fruit art with tissue paper and made paper plate collages of healthy food choices, where we discussed which foods are good for us and why.

In the tuff tray, the children explored smashing ice with different tools, which was a great sensory experience! This was very messy and loud! Later on in the week the children balanced cars on roads made from masking tape!

In the water tray, the children explored Arctic animals in shaving foam and glitter, pretending to be explorers in the snow! They really enjoyed the sensory experience of the shaving foam, which was very messy, but smelled very fresh!

As mathematicians, we’ve been solving fruit puzzles. The children loved the challenge and even found healthy food from the home corner to match the pictures! In our maths lessons we have been developing our 1-1 correspondence by counting different types of fruit and sorting them into groups.

In phonics our song of the week was Air Train, which the children loved singing along to and doing the actions for. Afterward, they took part in activities to help reinforce their awareness of instrumental sounds.

    NELI (Language Intervention)
We began our language intervention on Monday, and our story this week was Pip and Posy: The Bedtime Frog. The children have been discussing the story and learning new words like "pack," "forget," "giggle," and "excited."

To extend your child’s learning at home, we have NELI home learning activities available each week. These are posted outside the classroom door for you to take a photo of. If you're unable to take a photo, please email us, and we’ll be happy to print a copy for you.

    Wet Play!
As the weather becomes wetter, we will continue to go outside each day. Please make sure your child has an all-in-one waterproof suit or a spare set of clothes in their bag. Unfortunately, we no longer have spare clothes available, as these have not been returned. If your child does not have appropriate clothing, they may have to go home wet.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

We’ve had a fantastic week, and we look forward to more fun and learning next week!

We hope you have a great weekend!
