    Anemones Weekly Reflect and Review

7 March 2025 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT))

    Spring 2 Week 2

This week in Anemones, we had a fantastic time exploring numbers, phonics, creativity, and special celebrations like World Book Day and Pancake Day!

In Maths, we focused on understanding numbers 4 and 5, developing our subitising skills, and linking numerals to amounts. We played activities, embedding our learning with dice and a number hunt!

For Phonics, we played a rhyming game using rhyming objects in a bag. Our objects were a fox on a box, a stick and a brick, a cat in a hat and a frog with a dog!

At the Creative Table, we wrote letters to the zoo, created observational drawings of zoo animals, and finished making our Gruffalo for the door display. To finish the week, we made frogs and elephants using paper plates.

In our tuff tray, we became scientists, exploring matching animal prints and matching them to the animals with magnifying glasses, encouraging discussions and new vocabulary.

World Book Day was a huge success! We set up a bear hunt-themed tuff tray, read many stories, and even made our own books! The best part was dressing up in costumes—every child had one to wear, even if they didn’t bring one from home!

On Pancake Day, we had a pancake-themed tuff tray. We used whisks, spoons, bowls, and instructions to make pretend pancakes. We also had great fun flipping playdough pancakes at the playdough table.

In NELI, our book of the week was Cinderella. We learnt 4 mew words: clean, beautiful, fit and invitation! We engaged in fun activities to reinforce our learning, such as our ‘Does it fit?’ game, where we tried on different sizes of wellies, coats and hats to see if they would fit us!

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
