Well done to year 5 this week as they have worked incredibly hard on their assessments in writing, SPaG, maths and reading.

    As writers:

Beagle have written their own versions of the story Sand Wizards, incorporating lots of descriptive language and pathetic fallacy.

Discovery has been busy creating a persuasive powerpoint debating the importance of a beach clean. They have carried out their own research, whilst focusing on facts and evidence, opposing ideas, persuasive and emotive language.

Endeavour have finished their independent writers, creating their own version of Running Wild. They have used lots of emotive language and have thoroughly engaged their readers!

    As mathematicians:

Discovery has continued to work through the questions on Arithmetic paper 1, whilst continuing the unit of statistics looking at interpreting data from tables and line graphs. Next week we will work through the questions on Reasoning paper 2 and begin our next unit of shape. Please continue to support your child in completing their Maths and Daily reading homework.

Endeavour have completed their maths assessments and have begun exploring perimeter and area and have investigated finding the perimeter of rectangles and rectilinear shapes.

As artists, Beagle have evaluated their 3D art, thinking carefully about what worked well, what was tricky, and any changes they would make if they made them again. Endeavour used their models to create imotion videos and animations in scratch,

    Extras:

Discovery had a fantastic time watching Chrissie and the Skiddle Witch. The show told a story of a 13-year-old girl called Chrissie Riley and her family. Chrissie is very passionate about tackling climate change and is writing a petition to try and stop some new oil wells from being drilled off the coast of her town. Be sure to ask your child about the show.

    Next week:

Next week is RE week where we’ll be thinking about the question ‘is anything ever eternal?”

    Reminders:

    Don’t forget it’s a half day next Friday - we’ll be finishing at 11:30.
