Coral Reef Reflect and Review28 March 2025 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT)) |
This week we have been talking about our own past, how we have changed from babies to help us understand the idea of growing up. As Historians we sequenced pictures to show the different stages between a baby and an elderly person.
In Drawing Club, we focused on the Story ‘Once There Were Giants’ In the story once there was a baby in the house - and to that baby, Mum and Dad and Jill and John and Uncle Tom were giants. But little by little, that baby grew up - until she became a giant too! We drew and labelled pictures of babies and drew the babies favourite toy and what she wanted to be when she grew up.
As artists, we have continued to enjoy creating shadow puppets and using them to create shadow puppet shows with our friends. We have been exploring drawing with graphite pencils and charcoal to create different effects.
As writers we have begun to write captions and sentences to describe what we want to be when we grow up.
As Mathematicians, we have been revisiting our learning and showing our teachers what we know and can remember and what we still need to work on. We have been practicing our subitising, doubling, sharing and making patterns. On our Maths table we practised recalling number bonds to 5 by creating Numicon Monsters with numicon tiles that totalled 5.
Our Poetry basket brought us a poem for Mother’s Day, which we have been working hard to learn.
Next week:
We will be preparing for our Mother’s Day Tea, making cakes and practising our song and poem.
As artists, we will blow coloured ink with straws to create giant monster paintings, observational drawings, and paintings of spring flowers.
