    Explorers reflect and review

We've had a very warm week of learning in Explorers this week.

    As writers:

In Beagle, we have been developing our use of conjunctions and descriptive language, building on emphasis and exaggeration, as we further explore “The Tale of Two Robots”.

In Discovery, we have written our book blurbs based on the book title: ‘Spirits of the Sea: Legends of the Scottish Isles’ whilst focusing on our spelling, punctuation and grammar skills such as, using ellipsis, rhetorical questions and considering what sort of genre we are going to use.

Endeavour have begun to sentence stack our newspaper report for Uncle Fred’s crimes against Midnight Fox - much drama has ensued!

    As mathematicians:

Year 5 have been focusing on angles, developing our accurate measuring and skills, using prior knowledge to help us understand if we have done this correctly.

Discovery has finished their unit of measuring, where we have been looking at volume and capacity. Next week we will be looking to consolidate all previous learning in order to prepare for SATs week.

    As geographers and historians:

In Beagle we have been focusing on population densities, what causes the differences and how population density has changed over time in the USA.

Endeavour have moved onto learning about South America and focusing on Brazil. We have looked at push pull factors and explored why people move. We’ve finished our unit by creating our own presentations comparing and contrasting the two continents.

    Extras:

We have sent home information from Oxford Mutual Aid who offer help and support for those in need of a little extra help. You can visit any location following the information provided.
