POD Weekly reflect and review6 June 2025 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT)) |
A new week in the Pod
Welcome back to this last term of this school year. This terms topic is 'going on a journey, where shall will we go?'
This week the children have been very busy in all areas of the nursery developing their skills and interactions.
We have played cooperative games, taking turns, listening to instructions and waited for our go. This has helped to develop our personal, social and emotional development.
In the garden we used big brushes to paint the tyres encouraging large muscle movement, concentration, and hand and eye coordination.
We have been practicing our cutting skills and during snack time we have been pouring our own drinks from a jug into our cups. We haven't spilt much.
We have read the book 'The Journey home from Grandpa's' and the children have picked up on the repeated refrains and are starting to join in. We talked about going on holiday and what you might pack in your suitcase, the children then independently packed clothes from the home corner into the suitcase, and told each other where they would like to go. This all building on their communication, language and listening skills.
We have been exploring the treasure baskets that were given a revamp over the holidays, the children particularly enjoyed posting the wooden pegs down the tubes and watching them fall out the other end.
Where will our journey take us next week?
