The Pod Reflect and Review20 September 2025 (by Sarah Colverson-Martin (Sarah)) |
This Week In The Pod The children have continued to settle well and are building lovely relationships with their peers and key person.
Our Topic: Down in the Woods
This week we have been enjoying woodland stories, including Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children explored the story through sensory play using puppets, natural objects, and oats.
Out in the garden, we have been going on our own “bear hunts” after reading and retelling the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. The children had great fun hiding and searching for the bear in different locations, while learning to use positional language such as on, under, behind, and in.
As the seasons begin to change from summer to autumn, the children created beautiful autumnal wreaths with fallen leaves and gloopy glue. Some experimented with coloured glue, enjoying the textures and movement as they spread it around with glue spreaders.
The children have also been practicing their hand–eye coordination by spreading butter on bread to make their own snacks and pouring cups of “tea” in the water tray
Family Board
Thank you to everyone who has sent in photos for our family board! There is still plenty of space, so don’t worry if you haven’t yet sent one in — we’d love to include everyone. Our goal is to make sure all children and families feel they belong and matter. Ohana! ❤️ Please send photos to: thepod@stfrideswides.co.uk
Looking Ahead
Next week we will be celebrating International Day of Peace by thinking about what makes us feel peaceful and taking part in some child yoga.
Reminders for Parents
If your child wears wellies to nursery, please provide a change of shoes, as wellies can be uncomfortable to wear all day.
Please label all belongings clearly, as many children’s items look very similar.
A Message from Tracey
Tuesday Morning Drop-ins – 8:10 am
Parents and carers are warmly invited to drop in on Tuesday mornings after drop-off. Sometimes mornings can be stressful, and this is a chance to have a cup of tea, take a breath, and chat.
I have many years of experience in schools, three children of my own, and a background in wellbeing and counselling. I’m here to support parents as well as children.
