The Pod weekly reflect and review14 November 2025 (by Sarah Colverson-Martin (Sarah)) |
And just like that we have come to the end of the second week of term.
We have welcomed new families to the Pod and the return of Courtney and Kimberley from their maternity leave, we have however said a sad farewell to Lola who is going on to new adventures.
The topic for this term is ‘Sparkle and Shine’ the topic book is ‘Day Monkey Night Monkey’
Throughout this topic we will be exploring: nocturnal animals, bonfire night, fireworks remembrance day, going to space and the story of Christmas.
The children have been creating vibrant firework pictures using fluorescent paint and gloopy glue, exploring colours, textures, and expressive mark-making.
This week the children have been reading the story of ‘Owl babies’ and retelling the story using props and puppets in the tuff tray, they have also learned a new song that retells the story. This building on their communication and language skills, mathematical concepts and social and emotional development as we talked about how the owls felt when they realised Mummy owl was missing.
We have looked at space and different planets and have enjoyed reading the book ‘Alen’s love underpants’ and choosing our favourite pair in the book. A lovely opportunity to practise taking turns and listening to each other.
Despite the very wet weather, the children enthusiastically explored the mud kitchen! They loved the oozy mud, making mud pies and cups of “tea,” and experiencing the sensory fun of the outdoors.
This week we also celebrated Nursery Rhyme Week, singing lots of our favourite songs together.
We would like to invite you to one of our stay and play mornings, These are on Tuesday 2nd December 9.15 or Thursday 4th December 8.30. This will give you the opportunity to talk to your child’s Key Person, take part in activities with your child/children and look at the floor books with the children's observations in. We hope lots of you will be able to join us.
Have a lovely weekend see you next week.
