This week in Explorers, the children have shown great enthusiasm during rehearsals for the Christmas Carol Service and are beginning to sing beautifully together. They have been learning and rehearsing 12 Days of Christmas and Feliz Navidad. They are sounding great! They just need to remember to smile.

In Maths, Shackleton and Cook have continued to look at fractions. We have been practising a range of skills - adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominators, finding equivalent fractions and converting mixed numbers to/from improper fractions - and combining those skills to solve more complex problems. Beagle have been looking at division, finding and calculating remainders.

In English, Beagle have been exploring how to set a scene in their writing while Endurance and Endeavour have finished reading the text ‘Olive’s Army’ and are beginning to plan for an extended write next week.

The children also had a visit from Baxter Catering (as part of the Adopt a school programme) and had a great time chopping and eating salad as well as decorating gingerbread biscuits.   

Our Maths and Spelling workbooks have finally arrived and have been sent home with the children in Endurance and Endeavour. All Home Learning workbooks should be handed in on Wednesday. Home Learning supports the work we have been doing in class - it is not new learning.

Finally, no swimming for year 5 on Monday!

School Christmas Carol Service, Tuesday 9th December.
We are fortunate to be holding the service at The University Church of St Mary the Virgin, High Street, Oxford (OX1 4BJ). Parents and carers are warmly welcome to join us between 10:45 - 11:30 as the children perform their Christmas songs and reading.

Parent Forum - we look forward to you joining us for our Parent Forum on Tuesday 9th December at 6:30pm. We will be sharing mince pies and warm drinks whilst giving you the opportunity to have your say. Reminder this is an event for Parents only. We look forward to seeing you there.
