    Weekly reflect and review

    14 December 2025 (by Sarah Colverson-Martin (Sarah))

    It's been another busy week.

This week the children have been enjoying making marks in coloured sand. This has helped them to practise their pre-writing skills while developing their fine motor control.

We explored the Christmas story and provided the nativity figures for the children to play with, helping them to think about the real meaning of Christmas. The children also enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree. Some of the older children had the opportunity to watch the Reception class Jolly Postman nativity dress rehearsal, which they all thought was very good.

The children have been practising their mathematical skills by exploring size and weight, making comparisons using a range of objects and real food in the home corner.

We have also been singing counting rhymes, using the puppet basket to help the children choose their favourites.

The staff would like to thank all the parents who were able to join us for our open mornings last week. These sessions gave us a wonderful opportunity to share your child’s nursery experiences and discuss their learning and development.

This week is our final week of term. We will close at 11.15am on Friday and return on Monday 5th January at 8.15am (7.30am for children booked into Breakfast Club).
