Oceans Reflect and Review9 January 2026 (by Beth I) |
Happy New Year!
In RE this week, we have been answering the enquiry question: Did Jesus heal people? Did he really perform miracles, or were there other explanations? The children all thought about what the word miracle means to them and have enjoyed discussing different viewpoints, exploring Bible stories, and thinking carefully about what they believe and why.
In maths, we have been working on our multiplication and division unit. The children have been using their times tables knowledge to solve problems, looking for patterns, and explaining their reasoning. We have also been focusing on choosing efficient strategies and improving speed and accuracy.
The children have adapted well to the new OPDPR routines and have demonstrated resilience and enthusiasm. They are enjoying a range of sports and developing new skills across both playgrounds, working well as part of a team and encouraging each other.
Notices -
Parents Evening:
Thank you to all of the parents who booked to see the class teachers on Wednesday. It was lovely to talk about the wonderful learning that took place during the autumn term. If you have anything that you would like to discuss further, or you were unable to make the meeting, please email Oceans.
Home Learning:
During parents evening, parents asked how they could support their child with their learning. Please support your child to complete and return their home learning. Tasks are specifically set based on what has been covered in class, if your child is unsure, please encourage them to speak to their class teacher about this before Friday.
Spelling homework has been sent out, and to make it more meaningful, there is a second task on the back where the children can write their own sentences using the spelling list.
Maths sheets have also been given out.
Sumdog tasks have been set.
Next week:
We will be moving onto our new English unit of Arthur and the Golden Rope, whilst in topic we will begin looking at the Vikings and Anglo Saxons.
PE:
We are very lucky to have a cricket coach join us this term. Our PE days are now Monday and Tuesday. Please remember that children should be wearing on these days.
