Rockpool Reflect and Review15 January 2026 (by Lisa Brown (LisaB)) |
Busy, busy people!
This week in Rockpool we have continued to learn about the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Some of the children wanted to look at the book again, others used the felt pieces to create the story. We have enjoyed a range od activities from matching and copying patterns to completing puzzles. The children are really working hard tpo match the pieces, taking care to look at the shape of the piece and colour on it to put it in the correct place. Puzzles can be tricky but we worked hard and completed them all. Next week we are going to try our luck with The Very Hungry Caterpillar dominoes!
In maths we have continued to focus on patterns. The children have copied patterns, continued patterns and looked for partterns within the environmnet. Next week we will be thinking about matchoing number and quantity.
In phonics we have really focused on our reading and reading comprehension. Please share stories with your child at home, it is so important as it supports their language, communication and understanding of the wider world. In class we have been exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar story sack. Next week we will be learning about the letter sound P.
We would like to remind parents that we do not have any spare clothes in the Rockpool Class. Please can we ask that you send spare clothes in for your child. It is has been so wet and cold out so if we need to change your child, we need clothes here for them, so we don't have to contact you to send some in! We will be back in the morning for another busy day of learning and to enjoy our Golden Time!
Many thanks
The Rockpool Team
