Rockpool Reflect and Review30 January 2026 (by Lisa Brown (LisaB)) |
This week the children have been busy learning new concepts in maths using our Very Hungry Caterpillar book. We have been looking at, recognising and identifying different shapes within the environment. We have also been drawing around shapes and using them to make our own shape pictures.
We have had a wonderful time exploring and sharing our story sacks and singing songs in musical therapy that link to the stories. In musical theatre we are continuing to learn our new songs.
We have also introduced the children to board games. This week we played ‘we are going on a bear hunt’. This really helped the children with their social skills as they waited to take turns and we praised each other. We also had to use 1:1 correspondences to match the number of spaces we needed to move forwards with that on the dice. We couldn’t help but jump up and go on our very own bear hunt!
we are working on using new tools such as tape, scissors and rulers. The children have really enjoyed box modelling but we are running out of boxes! If you have any small boxes, toilet rolls or tubes at home, please bring them in. We can make great use of recyclable items!
Have a wonderful weekend,
The Rockpool Team
