Half term is fast approaching!
As writers this week, we have been developing our descriptive and grammatical skills. We have drawn a character based on an author’s descriptions and the language they used. We have practised writing examples of noun phrases and fronted adverbials, and we are becoming more confident at writing in role using inverted commas to show speech accurately.
On Monday, during our writing workshop, we began to explore poetry. We looked at a range of different poetic forms, including limericks, riddles and haikus. We discussed their key features, such as rhythm, rhyme and syllable patterns, and explored how poets use language to create imagery and meaning. Next week, we will begin to plan writing our very own haikus.
As Mathematicians, we have continued focusing on multiplication and division. We have been multiplying up to 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers and applying the same skills to division. We have used a range of methods, including formal written methods and problem-solving activities, to deepen our understanding. Next week, we will begin our new topic on length and perimeter.
As historians, we have been using the Mantle of the Expert approach to explore the Viking invasions. We investigated how the Vikings invaded Britain, the tools and weapons they used, and the reasons behind their attacks. This has helped us to develop our historical enquiry skills and deepen our understanding of Viking life. The children have also had the chance to make a Viking longship- which they thoroughly enjoyed doing!
Have a lovely weekend
